The Sharjah Press Club (SPC), a subsidiary of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), unveiled the 10th edition of Sharjah Ramadan Majlis last night (Monday, April 19) beginning with the Religious session titled ‘Reasons of Happiness in the World and Afterlife’, at Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah. Continuing its annual tradition of encouraging intellectual dialogue and understanding, SPC is once again hosting a series of intellectually stimulating and engaging sessions during the Holy Month of Ramadan throughout the Emirate.
Led by Dr Ali Gomaa, former Grand Mufti of Egypt and a distinguished scholar from Cairo’s Al Azhar University and Chairman of Religious Affairs Committee of Egyptian Parliament, the religious session was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council; HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau; HE Hassan Yacoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council; Prof. Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Acting Director of Al Qasimia University (AQU), besides a number of senior officials and invitees. Addressing the Religious session via recorded video, Dr Ali Gomaa explained the concept of happiness saying it is a difficult term to explain because happiness is a taste and every person has a different view of this concept.
He said, “Some people believe that happiness is devoting one’s life to worship of Allah whereas others define it as contentment and satisfaction. All these terms are correct as true happiness lies in obeying Allah the Almighty and the Messenger of God, peace be upon him.
Dr Ahmed Al Haddad, Grand Mufti and Director of the Fatwa Department at the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities of Dubai, also spoke on the occasion pointing out that happiness lies in obtaining assistance from Allah to do good work and serving humanity. He said that the greatest happiness that human beings can gain in the world is to obey Allah the Almighty and his Prophet, peace be upon him, leading to eternal happiness in the afterlife.
